This handset was released in the last week and now it seems that the G-Slate is coming to the UK too. The first announcement was for the Americas. We are planning another announcement very soon”.

We anticipate the LG G-Slate being announced for Europe at next month’s Mobile World Congress. However, there is nothing official. The video below gives us a glimpse of the Slate.

It comes with Android 3.0 Honeycomb which is designed purposely for tablets. Honeycomb offers a brand new, truly virtual and holographic user interface. The home screen now has 3D viewing with richer and more interactive widgets. There are also improvements to multi-tasking and notifications.

The LG GT-Slate comes with a TFT capacitive screen, dual cameras, 2592×1944 pixels, digital zoom, 32 GB on-board memory, Android 3.0 and HTML browser and Flash. It is also believed to come with Google Maps 5.0 and Google Talk.

Microsoft is in the middle of a return in the mobile world, and it’s on fire. The tech giant has committed to throwing enough money and attempt at its brand new Windows Phone 7 OS until something remain, confident taking enough market shares from Apple and Google to make it worth it. Microsoft has imposed some restrictions and limits on its OS.

Featuring a top of the line 4 Super AMOLED screen with very well-off and deep energetic colors, it really is hard to hit. It uses the same WVGA resolution as the Quantum and expounds on it with the Super AMOLED’s ability to provide superb visual quality in pictures and videos, as well as the simple stuff like apps and messages.

This one is a hard one to disagree with; both phones have 1 GHz CPU built in, but the Focus has 512 MB RAM inside, compared to the 256 MB RAM in the Quantum. Both phones have the same battery size and type, both Lithium Ion batteries using 1500 mAh.

The Focus has an advantage for button placement. But on the Quantum, 2 out of 3 buttons are touch, while the Windows button in the middle is a physical button that is placed a little further. For example, LG has its own app store in Marketplace called “LG Apps Store”, and Samsung has one called “Samsung Zone”.

This leads me to believe that LG has more plans to continue expanding its Apps Store. Both phones use 5 MP cameras, and both have 720p HD quality available.

Verdict

An final face-off between the two very good and powerful phones. The difficult thing is finding a real winner between the two, because as you can tell, both phones won almost the same number of categories. It’s been a wonderful experience to play with both phones and would be happy using either one.

The Mobile Fun iPhone 4 tilting slide-out keyboard is sexy. This pricey little accessory not only adds a physical QWERTY keyboard with backlight, it also does a good job protecting your prized gadget. With a hinge design reminiscent of the Touch Pro2, the Nuu Mini-Key Keyboard Case for iPhone 4 allows you to tilt the screen to a comfortable angle while you sit back and relax while watching a movie or TV show.

The iPhone 4 owners in your family this might be the perfect storing place.

The C3-01 Touch and Type first showed its face at Nokia World a few months ago, and is now officially for sale on the Nokia Online Shop, SIM-free for £159.

It’s a cute little stainless steel device that offers a numeric keyboard and basic touchscreen functionality. It runs on Symbian Series 40, so it’s likely to be very basic. It looks a bit like the older Nokia 6700 and 6300 devices, and can be used with just one hand — ideal for you multitaskers.

It carries 3G, Wi-Fi and a 5-megapixel camera with flash. Storage-wise, it supports microSD memory cards of up to 32GB. That steel bodywork could also make it stronger than you might expect.

The C3-01 sounds like a classy version of the C2-01, but with a better camera, touchscreen and connectivity. Having Wi-Fi and 3G, for example, means surfing the Internet and browsing the Ovi Store will be a much smoother experience.

If you don’t want to stump up the £159, there are a range of contract deals available with Vodafone, T-Mobile and O2 on two-year and 18-month plans. If you’re looking for something reasonably inexpensive that takes pictures, calls, texts and plays music without all the smart-phone add-ons, it could be ideal for you.

The LG Optimus One was announced in brief in this year and was released last month on several carriers worldwide, although not exactly in a huge blaze of publicity.

It’s a fairly low end Android device in a smart but fairly unremarkable grungy design, but reviews have been very positive, LG have shown some in both hardware and their own software add-ons, the pricing is right and the “LG” badge on it certainly does not hurt sales.

This is an Android 2.2 smartphones with various LG-sourced software enhancements. Inside is a 600 MHz CPU, which doesn’t seem like much when high-end devices are 1 GHz, but then the Optimus One’s fairly reserved hardware doesn’t need much. Well, the 3.2″ 320 x 480 pixel display is about as basic as Android phones get, but it certainly does the job… Especially for first time smartphone users and the Optimus One has a capacitive touchscreen much is much nicer to use than the resistive panels found on many rivals.

The pics of HTC “Mecha” or the HTC “Incredible” HD was leaked online, spreading like crazy. Rumors portrait the HTC Mecha / Incredible HD as built on the same principles as the HTC Evo, but with some notable differences. The phone was seen fully functioning, and even rooted. One of icons on the screen is the 4G symbol, indicating the LTE Data (the same reason for which HTC Merge launch is being delayed) being transferred through Verizon network.

The HTC Mecha would be getting some great response to their carriers, i.e. Verizon as it’s the first mobile that supports the 4G/LTE network of Verizon. The official release of specifications is not yet made, but through some sources, we found that the screen would be of 4.3-inch, 8-megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, a front facing camera, all this making the Incredible HD a similar member of HTC Evo 4G, and the actual primitive model i.e. HTC Incredible was not taken into consideration for an upgrade.

Vodafone’s firmware team is really cooking with gas this week. Not content with bringing out the HTC Legend Android 2.2 upgrade to owners before it hit unlocked handsets Vodafone is also the first UK network to release the update for the Samsung Galaxy S.

Vodafone revealed it had started the rollout on its forum, and owners ready to upgrade should have found out from a text message. You’ll need to use Samsung’s Kies software to download it, rather than it being an over-the-air update. To perform the upgrade, follow the instructions we’ve helpfully provided here – we recommend a swift backup beforehand.

There have been reports that the update has taken a while to download, possibly due to the number of people trying to update at the same time. Some users also seem to be having trouble with Kies if you’re having issues, it would be wise to check the forum to see if there’s already a solution.

Those who have performed the update successfully seem to be happy with it. There’s been the expected performance boost over Android 2.1, plus a smarter layout, some new features and an improvement with the Galaxy S much-criticized GPS.

There should also be some new call settings, one allowing you to bar calls from unknown numbers. Vodafone seems to have listened to the many complaints about bloatware it was putting on Android phones.

With enhanced RAM and the BlackBerry 6 OS, the BlackBerry Bold 9780 is an improvement on its predecessor, but it’s certainly not going to recapture market share lost to iOS and Android handsets. Typing on the BlackBerry Bold 9780 is a joy, but, like a square peg hammered into a round hole, the OS can’t really shine on a device with no touchscreen. The Bold 9780 is available on contract for around £25.

The most notable is the 5-megapixel camera, which offers up far superior shots than its forebear. We were genuinely impressed by the quality and honestly weren’t expecting so significant an improvement. Sadly, the same can’t be said of the phone’s video-recording prowess, which is sketchy at best. Those of you expecting RIM to jump on board the increasingly popular 720p-capture bandwagon are going to be severely put out by the 9780′s blocky and jerky footage. One element of the phone’s specification which hasn’t changed since the 9700 is the CPU, which remains locked down at 624MHz this is comparable to most low-level Android devices these days.

Conclusion

While there was nothing particularly wrong with the Bold 9700′s design, to make its direct successor almost identical does strike us as a little lazy. The internal improvements made by RIM make the BlackBerry Bold 9780 a pretty enticing proposition, and the inclusion of the BlackBerry 6 operating system at least ensures the phone is up to date. That said, it’s clear the software has been coded expressly with touchscreen devices in mind, and this can make using the 9780 a little awkward.
